Not that I know of. You are supposed to drain the water out, using a garden hose connected to the faucet handle near the bottom, every six months or so.

Water problems vary greatly. It depends on what the problem with your water is. You need to have a sample of your water analyzed by a reputable lab. Do not have a water conditioning company do a “free water analysis” This has become one of the biggest ripoffs since used car salesmen. No matter what your water problem, if you have these guys test it, your water will happen to require the most expensive water conditioner they sell.

i must assume it has sprung a leak in the tank. if it is around the heating element then it is probably full of lime. lime can be cleaned out of electric water heaters by removing the lower element. if it is the tank, i have never seen any water heater with less than a 5 yr. warranty. it should be replaced for free. my guess though is it is a hard water problem. lime is the by product of heating hard water. my suggestion is to try a water softener. if you should decide to try to take out the lower element to clean out the lime. the first thing you need to do is shut off the electricity. then shut off the water supply to the water heater. pump out the water, or drain it through a hose that attaches to a valve near the bottom of the heater. you will need to open a hot water faucet some where to let air in, or the water won’t drain out. i would suggest that you try a water softener first. good luck.

I would call a Manufacture of Water Filters, such as American Plumber Water Filter Company and let them recommend a filter for your application. Go right to the experts.
Also I would call the manufacture of the Water Heater and explain the problem. They my recommend a different anode rod for your heater. This may help prolong the life of the heater.
